No Turning Back Now!

Wow! So much has happened over the past week regarding the adoption. We received our official acceptance from For This Child on Holly's Birthday (see post below.) We were so pumped about having been accepted, however, being accepted by the agency meant that we had to come up with 2500 immediately. This is the initial fee for the agency to start your process. Here's where things started to get interesting. The night we were accepted to the agency, Holly's parents received a call from someone interested in buying the Neon. The amazing thing was that he was willing to pay exactly what we were needing for our payment. Well, you may have guessed it, the sell went bad. I will spare you the details, and me having to write them, but through a long process of chasing down Canadian cell phone numbers and Credit Unions in the Mid-west, Holly's Dad and I were able to discover for sure that the check was fraudulent. Needless to say, it was not a good day. Not only did some idiot attempt to take advantage of us, but we did not have the money we needed for the agency. Each day, each week that we don't have the money is another day, week that we have to wait for Isabella.

Here's where the good new starts. Last Saturday, Holly's parents received a call from a family in Scottsboro about the car. They took the Neon, met the family at McDonald's and walked away with a good check for the car. The check officially cleared the back Wednesday morning and then payment was in the mail to FTC on Wednesday afternoon! We are so excited to begin the next phase of the journey. We are anticipating now the beginning of our home study. We should be assigned a social worker in the following days and should also receive our Dossier which is the incredibly large packet of forms, etc. that will be sent to both the US government and the Guatemalan government. We are so excited that we are now able to begin the next phase of the journey. Money has now officially changed hands: there's no turning back now!
