What another great surprise to see in our email box today another update from our agency! This last update was the one from our daughter's one month check up. The doctor in Guatemala gave her a clean bill of health and said that she was progressing appropriately! Here are the specifics of his comments. She is now 7 lbs 6 ozs (remember she was under 5 lbs when we saw her last!) and 46 cms. She is taking her formula and vitamins as needed. She is also showing appropriate reflexes on both sides. When laid on her stomach she is now able to lift her chin off of the bed. (A small feat I know, however, unimaginable to us! Our little girl is growing up so quickly!)
We were so happy to get this update. She is doing well and continuing to grow! We are hoping that she doesn't grow up too much before we see her! (We don't want her walking in to see us!) The good news about this update is that we can now pick out clothes for her. We had a bit of a problem locating a Christmas dress in a preemie size, but alas, we no longer need it! She is just now getting to the size of the 0-3 month clothes and thus, she can be better dressed. (Come on you baby clothes designers, we need more good clothes for preemies) We of course did what any new parent would do upon finding out such good news...we went shopping tonight!
Well that's it for the update. We were happy to see pictures of her, but will be even more happy to see her and hold her over Thanksgiving. We exactly 20 days, 8 hours, and 45 minutes (from the time of writing this) until we get on the plane in Huntsville! We are a little excited about this! One last note, I spoke with my Mom today (Chris' Mom) and she is now finished with the baby quilt that she is making for Isa except for a few minor touches. This has got to be the most beautiful quilt that you will ever see! As soon as we are able, and have her permission, I will post a picture of the final quilt on the blog. I am so happy that we will be able to tell Isa, this is what your grandmother made especially for you! Muchas gracias abuelita! ALSO A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ISABELLA'S GRAMMA POWELL!!! (As of November 1)
Shalom,
Chris
