WOW! We had the greatest, and longest day on Saturday. We had a yard sale to help with the adoption costs. Holly asked if we could mention to a couple of friends that we were having the yard sale, not announce it to the Church or anything, just talk to a couple of friends just in case they wanted to get rid of some old stuff. I reluctantly said yes (I hate asking people for stuff, and this seemed too close to me.) Well, Holly talked to a couple of friends and WOW! I was not prepared for the response! We had people, that I have never met before, showing up at our house to give us stuff for the yard sale. It was amazing.
We starting pricing everything on Thursday night. We loaded up everything that was at our house and took it up to the Wherehouse for our pricing party. Holly, myself, Val, Heather, Ann, Damon, and Vickie ended up staying for several hours working on pricing everything. Early Friday evening, the task was finished. We finished just in time to go home and watch the hours of continuous weather coverage of the tornados. Things were not looking good for our Saturday morning yard sale.
We got up Saturday morning and decided to give it a try. All of the yard sale stuff was in the Wherehouse (our youth facility) so we decided we would just open up the doors and let people shop inside. The sale went better than we had expected. People began to trickle in to our "College Park Thrift Store." The problem with having the yard sale inside, is that we had too much stuff for the building we were in. We were still uncovering items as we were packing up that we simply could not get to before! When all was said and done, we had made more than we could have imagined. Here's the weird part, after we were through with the yard sale, we loaded up the rest to take to Val's garage. WE TOOK 6 CAR LOADS TO HER GARAGE AND FILLED IT UP! (One of those cars was a 15 passenger van and one was a truck with a trailer) We are planning to have another yard sale in April to sale what was left. On top of that, some have told us that they have even MORE stuff that we can try to sale! It is a lot of work, but picturing Isabella at home with us, makes it all worth while.

Hi! Found your blog by chance today...love to find other people going through the process..plus any counting crows fan is a friend of mine (I'm a DIE HARD FAN). Yard sale is a great idea! Good luck through the process, I'll check back to see how you're doing!
