Here we go! Let the wild ride begin (again)!

As many of our friends know, we have been in the process of a domestic adoption for about three years now.  We decided this time to work with an adoption facilitator as opposed to an adoption agency.  The past three years have been a long three years, but the whole process has been worth it.  This past week, we got a phone call from our facilitator and were matched with birth mother!  We had been a bit nervous about the initial conversation with the birth mother so, before we talk about that, let me tell you a bit about the events of the day:

We were preparing to leave town to visit my (Chris') parents.  We were supposed to leave town around 1pm, but as we normally do, we were running late.  We stopped for gas as we were leaving town and as Holly was in the gas station purchasing some necessary trip goodies, the phone she had left in the car rang.  The caller id said that the number was blocked and so I reluctantly answered it.  When a number is blocked it usually means that it is a stalker, government worker, bill collector, or adoption facilitator; I figured I had a one-in-four chance so I answered.  The lady on the other line said that she was calling to inform us that there was a birth mother that had viewed our profile and was interested in speaking with us!  It is at this point in the story that I learned what the phrase "thrown into a tizzy" means.  We immediately started trying to figure out the next steps needed in order to make this happen.

Step 1, temporarily abandon family trip.
Step 2, take said family back to the house.
Step 3, realize that you quit using the phone line that the birth mother is wanting to call.
Step 4, re-route our family's 1-800 number to a cell phone so that we can participate in the conversation.
Step 5, take Bella to the neighbor's house for an unexpected visit.
Step 6, rehearse questions to ask the birth mother.
Step 7, freak out
Step 8, calm down when you talk to the birth mother because you are having a very pleasant, though difficult, conversation.

So, these are the steps that you must follow should find yourself in the same situation that we were in.
What is the result of the aforementioned steps?  Following the conversation with our birth mother, we received a second call from the facilitator.  They were simply calling us to let us know that the birth mom stated she was 100% positive that we were a match!  This means our brand new daughter should arrive in the next TWO WEEKS!  We'll keep you posted.
